How I Create My Reading Whiteboard
-
I open Highlight and go through my highlighted passages one by one. As I read, I pull the highlights that still resonate with me onto the whiteboard, grouping those with a similar “feeling” in the same area.
-
For each area, I ask myself: Why did I put these together? What is the common pattern?
Then, I break them down into smaller clusters if needed, until no further division feels necessary. -
Once a cluster becomes clear, I give it a section name. If I have any reflections or insights at this stage, I write them directly inside the section.
-
I organize these sections into entry cards.
-
Finally, I write my reading notes or reflections.
In practice, steps 1–3 often happen at the same time. When a group of highlights grows large enough for me to recognize a clear pattern, I name that section right away. Steps 4–5 are about consolidating the process into structured insights and reflections.
